Rally in Vienna against the Iran seminar of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO), Feb 27

STOP THE BOMB protests against the WKO's promotion of business with Iran

The coalition STOP THE BOMB will be holding a rally and info desk on Thursday, 27 February 2014, 08:00AM, in front of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO) in Vienna, Wiedner Hauptstraße, to protest against the WKO seminar "Focus on Iran". Said Stefan Schaden, spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB in Austria: "The WKO does not seem to have any reservations against closer ties with the anti-Semitic and homophobic Iranian regime. It encourages Austrian companies to consider risky business deals with the dictatorship in Tehran while sanctions in many sectors are still in place. Whoever promotes increased business ties with this Israel-hating regime in fact helps the ayatollahs to remain in power. Those Iranian citizens, who have been yearning for regime change for years, will not forget who were the biggest supporters of the brutal rulers."

Schaden also reminded of the US administration's strong warnings against new business with Iran: "Companies which now engage in business with Iran clearly risk to be punished and lose their international reputation."

Said Stephan Grigat, Scientific Director of STOP THE BOMB: "At our info desk we will provide information which the companies won't get from the Chamber: Nothing substantial has changed since Rouhani became president. There is a sad record number of executions. Economic cooperation as promoted by the WKO actually supports the most radical and brutal entities of the regime, the Revolutionary Guards. They control the nuclear and ballistic missiles programs and an estimated 80 percent of the foreign trade."
