Criticism against Fischer for meeting Rouhani

STOP THE BOMB refers to Holocaust denial by Iranian regime and takes part in protests in New York

The coalition STOP THE BOMB will be taking part in protests against the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the UN General Assembly in New York today and criticizes the Austrian President Heinz Fischer for courting the Iranian regime. Stefan Schaden, spokesperson of STOP THE BOMB: "The meeting of Fischer with Rouhani is a completely wrong signal. Apart from rhetorics, the Iranian regime has not changed its nuclear policy. There is no reason for courting the Iranian regime."

Stephan Grigat, scientific director of STOP THE BOMB, refers to the Iranian regime's Holocaust denial: "Being asked in an interview a couple of days ago if the Holocaust was real, Rouhani answered 'I am not a historian'. This is in line with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei who calls the Holocaust 'a myth' on the English version of his own website. The meeting of Fischer with Rouhani gives legitimacy to such positions, which is totally unacceptable."
