Vienna as a stage for Ahmadinejad?
STOP THE BOMB announces protests during
visit of Iranian president
The Austrian STOP THE BOMB coalition announces protests for the case that the Iranian President Ahmadinejad will attend the OPEC conference on June 8th in Vienna. STOP THE BOMB spokesperson Simone Dinah Hartmann: "If Ahmadinejad, who is responsible for the brutal repression of the Iranian freedom movement and the nuclear weapons program, comes to Vienna, STOP THE BOMB will organize protests. Together with exiled Iranian organizations like the Democratic Party of Kurdistan Iran, we will demonstrate in front of the OPEC headquarters."
Hiwa Bahrami, spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan Iran (DPKI), points out that this won't be the first time Ahmadinejad is coming to Vienna: "According to our knowledge, it can be assumed that Ahmadinejad was directly involved in the murder of Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, former head of the DPKI, and two of his companions in 1989 in Vienna. We ask ourselves, if the Austrian justice system will finally be brave enough to prosecute."
The STOP THE BOMB coalition prompts the Austrian government to prevent the holocaust-denier and antisemite Ahmadinejad from entering Austria and to inhibit bilateral talks. STOP THE BOMB spokesperson Simone Dinah Hartmann: "We will listen carefully whose voices will be raised against the visit of this representative of the Ajatollah and revolutionary guard dictatorship."
