Criticism Against Iran Business at OMV Shareholders’ Meeting

STOP THE BOMB announces protest at Austria Center Vienna and criticizes Iran nuke talks in Vienna

The coalition STOP THE BOMB will be holding a protest rally on Wednesday, May 14th, from 1:00PM on occasion of the annual OMV shareholders’ meeting at the Austria Center in Vienna. OMV is Austria’s major oil and gas company and partly state-owned. Activists will run an info desk with information on the Iranian regime. Other members of the coalition will take part in the meeting as shareholders and ask questions about OMV’s Iran business.

Said Stefan Schaden, spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB in Austria: „The planned trip of Austrian President Heinz Fischer to the Iranian regime obviously serves to pave the way for OMV to bring its Iran business back on track. Whoever is doing business with this regime also finances the nuclear program, the annihilation threats against Israel, the Holocaust denial and the oppression of the Iranian population.“

STOP THE BOMB further criticizes the next round of the nuclear talks with the Iranian regime in Vienna. Said Scientific Director Stephan Grigat: „There is a legitimate concern that the current negotiations will lead to the acceptance of Iran's nuclear program rather than to its shutdown. The West is apparently falling for Rouhani’s and Zarif’s charm offensive.“
