Rally against Iranian foreign minister Salehi in Vienna
No stage for the Iranian regime!
Wednesday, February 27th 2013, 09:00 AM – 10:00 AMBallhausplatz/Volksgartennische, next to Hofburg (Vienna Congress Center), 1010 Vienna
Ali Akbar Salehi, the Iranian foreign minister, is invited to participate in the Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations on February 27th and 28th. This event, questionable in general for its cultural relativism, is transformed into a platform for radical Islamism by Salehi's attendance.
Every appearance of high-ranking representatives of the Iranian regime thwarts the efforts for sanctions against the Iranian rulers and stabs the Iranian democratic opposition, both in Iran and in exile, in the back. The appearance of the Iranian foreign minister strengthens the legitimacy of the policies of the Iranian regime, which encompass organizing conferences on the denial of the holocaust as well as repeated threats to exterminate the Jewish state. The Iranian regime still continues working feverishly on its nuclear weapons and rocket program, which is a massive threat to the western world, the Iranian population, all other states in the region and especially an existential threat to Israel. The Iranian regime tortures and murders members of the opposition and sends its Hezbollah assassins all over the world, profiting from the EU's failure to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization. Salehi, who will be given a warm reception at an event championing the “protection of religious minorities”, represents a regime that bullies the Christian minorities, agitates against Jews and systematically represses the Baha’i minority.
Austrian companies conduct big business with Teheran despite all sanctions and international pressure and the foreign office of Austria declared that the Minister of foreign Affairs Michael Spindelegger will hold informal talks at the conference with the top diplomat of the Iranian terror regime. Hereby Spindelegger continues cosying up to the murderers of the Iranian opposition. Every dialogue with the Iranian regime signals a legitimacy it has long lost among the Iranian population.
We call on all participants of the conference to speak out clearly against the appearance of Salehi and for the invitation of Iranian opposition members! We call on all EU member states and accession countries to follow Canada's example and discontinue all diplomatic relations with the regime of the Ayatollahs and the Pasdaran.
For tough and effective sanctions and the political isolation of the Iranian regime!
For the support of the Iranian secular and democratic opposition!
